Blog: Zenopus Archives

Zach Howard's Zenopus Archives is a blog of scholarly obsession with the example dungeon in the Holmes Basic edition of D&D. This dungeon is commonly known as the ruined tower of Zenopus, although it plays -- just like Greyhawk Castle -- in the dungeons under the ruined tower.

The blog has the original pre-publication version of the manuscript, compares it to the published version, and created an updated version for 5e. It is obsessing over each and every detail in every room, over how Gygax changed and edited the manuscript, over the images used and so on.

It also collects other artifacts from the early days of the hobby in scholarly manner, like this compilation of Gary Gygax statements about Keep on the Borderlands, or this in depth reveiw of a followup Gary play example to the original EUROPA article.
